Zooming

There are many ways you can zoom in and out on the waveform in Wave Editor. In this chapter we'll cover how to zoom using Keyboard Shortcuts, Mouse Actions, and Scroll Wheel Actions.

Zooming with Keyboard Shortcuts

Open the Keyboard Shortcuts panel by selecting Wave Editor > Keyboard Shortcuts. Type "zoom" into the search field at the top of the Keyboard Shortcuts panel.

Horizontal and Vertical Zoom In/Out are basic zooms that can also be accomplished with the zoom sliders on the Waveform Bar (See the chapter titled "Document Window"). However, the other zooms listed are specific to Keyboard Shortcuts. Take some time to learn these useful zooms - they'll speed up your workflow!

Horizontal Zoom to Sample Level A full horizontal Zoom In to the selection point.
Horizontal Zoom to Display All A full horizontal Zoom Out to display the waveform's length.
Vertical Zoom Max A full vertical Zoom In.
Vertical Zoom to Display All A full vertical Zoom Out.
Zoom to Display All A full horizontal and vertical Zoom Out to display the entire waveform.
Zoom to Selection Zooms to the current selection or selection point.
Zoom to Default Zooms to the default zoom length specified in Preferences (In the "Document" section).

Zooming with Mouse Actions

Open the Mouse Actions panel by selecting Wave Editor > Mouse Actions. Listed below are the zoom related Mouse Actions.

Zooming with Scroll Wheel Actions

Open the Scroll Wheel Actions panel by selecting Wave Editor > Scroll Wheel Actions. In the "Action" column you can select either Horizontal Zoom or Vertical Zoom.

Assigning Horizontal Zoom and Vertical Zoom to your scroll wheel is a great way to navigate the waveform. You'll find it's more convenient than using the zoom sliders on the Waveform Bar.
