Wave Editor

About Wave Editor Displays the "About Box" which contains application version and build numbers as well as acknowledgements.
Preferences... Opens the Preferences window.
Keyboard Shortcuts Opens the Keyboard Shortcuts panel.
Scroll Wheen Actions Opens the Scroll Wheel Actions panel.
Mouse Actions Opens the Mouse Actions panel.
Support Opens the Support window.
Manual Opens the Wave Editor manual.

File

New Presents a list of document Templates. Choose "Default" to open a new document with the Template chosen in Preferences > Document. Select a named Template to open a new document applying that Template.
Open... Displays the standard Open dialog.
Open Recent Displays a list of the most recently opened files. Selecting one immediately opens that file.
Load... Loads other files including audio, Properties, or Labels into the current document.
Import... Use "Import..." to open an audio file that is not natively supported by Wave Editor. Choosing this displays the standard Open dialog that includes three import methods to choose from: CoreAudio, QuickTime and Raw. The file is imported into a new, untitled document. File import is covered extensively in the Working With Files chapter.
Export Displays a list of export options, both file formats and methods. Options include compressed formats, Properties, Labels, SDS (Sample Dump Standard) and DDP (Disc Description Protocol). File export is covered extensively in the Working With Files chapter.
Export Selection Identical to "Export" but applies only to the current selection in a document. Options include compressed formats and SDS (Sample Dump Standard). Properties, Labels and DDP are not supported for "Export Selection." File import is covered extensively in the Working With Files chapter.
Close Closes the current document. If the document is unsaved, Wave Editor prompts you to save it.
Save Saves a new or modified document to disk.
Save As... Saves a document with a new name and/or location and opens the new document in place of the previous document.
Save To... Saves a document with a new name and/or location without affecting the current document.
Save Selection To... Identical to "Save To..." but applies only to the current selection in a document.
Save As Template... Saves window settings in the current document as a Template. Templates are covered extensively in the Templates chapter.
Revert Reverts the frontmost document back its previously saved state.
Burn Disc... Displays the Burn Disc dialog. This option appears only when a document contains Track markers.

Edit

Undo/Redo Undo/Redo actions in a document. Undo/Redo is unlimited. To configure Undo options, choose Wave Editor > Preferences > Undo.
Flush... Flushes the Undo cache.
Cut Cut places the current selection on the Pasteboard and deletes the selected audio from the original document. To Cut In Place, hold down the Option key and choose Edit > Cut. This erases the audio inside the selection and replaces it with silence, rather than deleting it entirely from the document.
Cut To Cut To is identical to Cut, but instead allows the cut audio to be placed onto a Layer either in the current document or in a new document.
Copy Places a duplicate copy of the selection on the Pasteboard.
Copy To Copy To is identical to Copy, but instead allows the copied audio to be placed onto a Layer either in the current document or in a new document.
Paste Inserts the audio from the Pasteboard at the insertion point. If the current selection is a range, Paste will replace the selected range. Wave Editor automatically converts the audio if required.
Paste as Link (toggled via the option key) Inserts the audio from the Pasteboard at the insertion point. If the current selection is a range, the selection range is replaced. The audio is not copied into the document, but instead is a reference to the original source file. Linking is only possible if both source and destination documents are in Wave Editor format.
Paste To Identical to "Paste" but allows selected audio to be pasted into an existing Layer within the current document, into a new Layer within the current document, or into a new document.
Crop Crop removes the audio before and after the selection. To Crop in place, press the Option key and choose Edit > Crop. This erases the audio before and after the selection rather than deleting it.
Remove Removes a selection from a document. If the selection is audio, "Remove" leaves silence in its place.
Delete Delete erases the selected audio. The surrouding audio collapses, leaving no space.
Splice Splice inserts a splice point at the insertion point or splice points at the start and end of a selection. This splits the current selection into SmartEdits.
Merge Merge combines selected SmartEdits into a single contiguous SmartEdit.
Insert Silence... Inserts blank audio at the insertion point. You will be prompted to choose a length (all time units are supported).
Select All "Selects All" applies to the Channels Bar, Labels Drawer, Layers Drawer as well as the waveform view. To select all audio in a document or Layer within a document, click inside the waveform view and and choose Edit > Select All. The same method applies to the Labels Drawer, Channels Bar, etc.
Snap To Displays a list of items to which draggable items such as selections, Labels or SmartEdits can snap to while being dragged. Options include Zero Cross, Time Units, Grid, Playback Head and Labels.
Hard Snap When on, Hard Snap forces draggable items to move only to the next "Snap To" item.

View

Information Shows/hides the Information Bar in the current document.
Overview Shows/hides display of the Overview Bar in the current document.
Playback Shows/hides display of the Playback Bar in the current document.
Channels Shows/hides the Channels Bar in the current document.
SmartEdit List Shows/hides the SmartEdit List Bar in the current document.
Location Shows/hides the Location Bar in the current document.
Options Use this menu to open the view options for the Bars that have them (only Channels does not)
Labels Opens/closes the Labels drawer in the current document.
Layers Opens/closes the Layers drawer in the current document.
Time Units Selects the type of units used to measure time in the current document.
Range Units Selects the type of units used to measure dynamic range in the current document.
Autoscroll Selects specific Autoscroll features for the current document.
Autoselect Toggles Autoselect on or off for Labels, Channels, SmartEdits and Layers. If Autoselect is on for one of these items, selecting that item in a drawer or list will automatically modify the selection range in the Waveform Bar to match the selected item. For example, if Autoselect > Labels is on and you select a Region in the Labels Drawer, the audio defined by the Region start and end will automatically become selected in the Waveform Bar.

Waveform

The Waveform menu lists waveform view options for a document. These options are not global; they apply only to the current document. All of these options are also availble in the Waveform Bar view options which are covered in the Document Window chapter.

Rulers/Grid Toggles visibility of Rulers and Grid.
SmartEdits Toggles visibility of SmartEdits.
Markers/Slices/Regions/ Loops/Tracks/Indexes In this section of the Waveform menu, you can toggle visibility of Labels in the current document.
Peak/RMS/Mean Toggles the display method for waveform magnitude. Only one option can be chosen at any time.
Outline/Rectified/Average/ Sample Dots Toggles specific options for the visual display of the waveform.
Trim/Thresholds Toggles preview visibility for Trim and Thresholds in the Processor. See the Processor chapter for a full explanation of the Processor.

Layer

Add Layer Adds a new Layer to a document.
Duplicate Layer Duplicates the selected Layer.
Enable/Disable All Layers Enables or disables all Layers in a document.
Add Audio Unit Adds an Audio Unit to a selected Layer.
Edit Audio Unit... Displays the user interface for a selected Audio Unit.
Add Fade Adds a Bezier Fade overlay at the bounds of a selection in the current Layer.
Flatten Layer... Processes all Audio Units and Fades on a selected Layer.
Flatten All... Processes all Audio Units and Fades on each respective Layer, then combines all the Layers to make a "flat" audio file.

Label

Add Label Adds a Label at the current selection.
Remove Duplicates Removes duplicate Labels in a document.
Lock/Unlock Locks or unlocks a Label. Locked Labels cannot be modified or removed.
Join "Join" applies only to Regions, Loops and Tracks. It combines selected Labels into a single Label spanning from the start point of the first Label to the end point of the last.
Intersect "Intersect" applies only to two overlapping Regions, Loops or Tracks. It combines the selected Labels into a single Label where the two original Labels overlap.
Justify "Justify" applies only to non-overlapping Regions, Loops or Tracks. It moves a Label's end point to the next Label's start point.
Quantize To Quantizes selected Labels to Zero Cross, Time Units or the Grid.
Convert To Converts selected Labels from one type to another.

Channel

Add Channel Adds a Channel to a document.
Duplicate Channels Duplicates selected Channels.
Remove Channels Removes selected Channels
Enable/Disable All Channels Enables/Disables all Channels in a document.
Sum Channels Sums selected Channels.
Subtract Channels Subtracts selected Channels.
MS Encode/Decode MS Encodes/Decodes selected Channels.

Window

Minimize Window Minimizes the current document.
Bring All to Front Brings all documents to the front.
Apply Template Sets the current document's window settings to the chosen template. See Save As Template... and Working With Templates.

Wave Editor 1.4 does not utilize the Help menu
