Rax 3
Virtual Rack
Rax is a streamlined, intuitive virtual rack for Mac OS X. Designed with performing musicians in mind, it enables you to easily control your rack of sounds and effects.
Create your ideal rack of AudioUnit and VST effects and instruments, combine them with your favorite samples and take advantage of the powerful audio and MIDI routing to unlock the instrument inside your computer!
Complete interface redesign!
Rax 3 boasts a newly designed and intuitive interface that facilitates a streamlined workflow - from sketching out a song, creating set lists, and performing live. The new interface is at once simple and powerful. Some of the new interface features include a completely configurable console, variable number of channels & modules, configurable output routing for each channel, accurate metering & faders, separate Master Section, and slick animations!
Easily organize your songs
The new iTunes-like Repertoire window allows you to easily organize your songs. Create sets, drag and drop songs to sets from the master set, add notes to songs, quickly rename the songs, and much more!
Exhaustive remote control capability
Rax 3 introduces a new and improved remote controls system for mapping MIDI control to instruments, effects, and parameters on the console. It also includes built-in support for the Apple Remote, AlphaTrack, Tranzport, and Monome. MIDI control has never been this powerful and easy!
Try It Free...
Rax will run, without limitation, for 15 days. After that, you'll need to purchase Rax for $79 to utilize the application's functionality. A Rax license key can be purchased directly from our online store.
Seven Powerful Modules
The seven different modules in Rax 3 allow for a wide range of audio control and exploration. They can host AudioUnit and VST instruments and effects, load and playback audio files, specify a range of hardware inputs and outputs, implement sends, and much more.
Source
The Source module determines the input of the channel strip. Choose from AU or VST instruments, audio inputs, ReWire, an audio file or sample, a network, or a send from another channel strip!
Inserts
Take advantage of the Pre-fader Inserts and Post-fader Inserts modules to to use up to sixteen AU or VST effects per channel. Easily add, remove, bypass, rearrange, and copy and paste effects with just a few clicks!
Sends
With the power of the Pre-fader Sends and Post-fader Sends modules you can capture exactly what you want and route it to any other channel.
Fader
The Fader module features a beautiful LED style level meter, mute and solo buttons, pan control, a section for custom naming the channel strip, and a life-like fader with adjustable headroom!
Output
With the Output module you specify the audio output. You can also create Audio Bundles with custom names for a specific set of outputs.
More in Rax 3.0
Aside from the total overhaul of the Rax interface, version 3.0 introduces many new features which we know you'll love!
Master Section
The new Master Section offers a wide range of control over the Console. It includes a Power button to quickly turn the Console on or off (turns everything on or off, including all instantiated effects and instruments), a Record button to capture the Console's output and save it as a Wave Editor, AIFF, Wave, Sound Designer II or CAF file, and a Mute button to mute the entire Console. It also features a master fader and meter for just the right amount of control, a sequence section for loading MIDI files or syncing to an external host, and a CPU meter!
Native AU and VST Instrument and Effect support
In our commitment to expand your musical horizons, Rax 3 features native AU and VST instrument and effect support so you can finally unlock the full potential of your plug-ins!
Custom MIDI Maps
Rax 3 features extensive MIDI remote control capabilities, including the ability to create custom MIDI maps for your control change messages. You can map control change messages with segmented, logarithmic, quadratic, and cubic curves.
Audio Bundles
Audio Bundles make it easy to manage the audio inputs and outputs on your computer and/or audio interface. You simply create a new bundle and assign that bundle the desired inputs or outputs. Then the bundle appears in the list of inputs or outputs in the Source and/or Output modules!
Many new channel input sources
Rax 3 now allows for many new channel input sources, including live audio inputs, ReWire, Network (using AUNetSend/AUNetReceive), Audio File (for large file playback), Sample (for small, sliced file playback via MIDI), and Sends from other channels.
Support Where And When You Need It
Our Vision
Audiofile Engineering began in a recording studio, not in a corporate boardroom in an office building. As musicians and engineers who have invested blood, sweat, and tears into the world of creative audio software, we are too often surprised by an ugly truth: end-user support is seriously lacking.
From day one at Audiofile Engineering we have devoted ourselves to keeping in touch with our user base. We believe that the center of our business, and even the process of creating our software, rests within each and every one of our customers. And if you run into trouble, we want to be there to help.
Not Your Parents' Help Menu
Actual, honest-to-goodness, end-user tech support is built-in to every one of our apps. Look in each application's menu for Support and check it out.
Learn more by watching our tutorial Screencasts, check for an update of the software, read Release Notes and new features, manage your License keys, or communicate with a real, living, human being on our Support staff.
The Help Desk tab is where you can let us know when you believe you've found a bug, or when you have a great idea for a future feature, and even review all past communications with the Support Team. No more digging through emails, or following links in your web browser. We've put the most important bits right at your fingertips.
We're All In This Together
We work hard to provide unparalleled technical support, and strive to keep improving our development workflow and quality control to prevent issues from happening in the first place. We utilize modern and effective tools that allow us to support you in the best way possible, no matter where in the world you are.
For example, we keep track of every feature request submitted by users. When we see one particular feature pile up, it gets added to our public Roadmap. At that point, you can vote on each feature and help us rank which ones should take priority. (This system really works - we've just added an Leq meter to Spectre due to popular demand.)
So tell us when you need help, let us know when things aren't working the way you expect and especially when they seem unclear. Send us your most desired feature requests, and share stories about how you are using and enjoying the software we've created. This feedback will give us what we need to continue to build and refine the most useful and enjoyable applications you've ever used. We aren't perfect, but we wont give up trying to be!
When in doubt, just email us directly at support@audiofile-engineering.com.
